So recently we had a couple of our sites randomly having weird issues of injecting strange characters in the URL when a user browsed the site in IE10. At first glance I thought the values were GUIDs but after some great help form Juraj Ondrus (Head of Kentico Support) I discovered the values were in fact the session id. After a quick search I found that there is a known issue with .NET 4.0 and the IE10 User-Agent causing ASP.NET to not use your Set-Cookie settings for your application. What it looks like1. User attempts to log into the site using IE10 User browses to login page 2. User is re-

The REST service that comes with Kentico CMS is a great resource for any project that needs to extend the functionality of deleting and updating content through a programmatic interface. This service has a ton of great features that allow for content retrieval, document manipulation, and object data retrieval, all of which simplify interacting with the system from an external application. While we have used the service to return document information many times in the past, I recently had the requirement to return document attachment info, as well. REST Service to the rescue! I recently encountered an issue while working on a site with the standard Kentico web part icons disappearing. After talking with Dominik Pinter, I found the issue was something kind of interesting so I wanted to pass the info along to everyone. First, a little background. I have a site I currently have deployed into Windows Azure using Kentico’s recommended configuration. All files are being stored in Windows Azure storage, and more importantly, all web part icons show up. The site is configured to store all images on the file system (Site Manager / Settings / System / Files) and ever

Kentico has numerous APIs to facilitate any functionality that is needed. A savvy developer will know which one to use where to save themselves a lot of work and headache when implementing they custom code. One of the most beneficial APIs I can think of the Caching API. Under the hood, Kentico caches all kinds of data for various reasons. Being a data driven application, this methodology cuts down on database calls and round trips to deliver information and content quicker. If data isn’t changing, it just makes sense to use something in memory and save the extra processing time r

Adding Custom Functionality to a Kentico CMS Module in V8

Kentico CMS provides a ton of great features out of the box that accommodate many needs of projects. There are some times, however, that developers need to extend these features to fill a particular business need. While Kentico has always been extendable, adding this custom functionality hasn’t always been a simple process. Take for example you need to extend the User’s module to allow the management of some custom attributes. In the past, the User’s module was a fairly static set of pages and controls created by Kentico. A good pattern would be to add a new interface
